Martha Coakley ran an awful campaign, that's all there is to it.

Also, health care was already dead in the water when the public option got dropped.

    An oft-overlooked 9/11 story.

The oddest thing I've seen in quite a while: Rahm Emanuel being forced to read to schoolchildren (you know Hopey made him do it).

It would have been more realistic if he read the story like, "'...and then the duck's chief of staff mailed a dead fish to the cow for being a no-good traitor and then the cow fell in line, and they lived happily ever after. The End.'"

Girls I wouldn't want to tangle with.

Yes, the women in the first video really are South Korean military.

I noticed that much of the Royal Thai Army in general appears to be made up of troops from rural areas and smaller Thai cities and very few from Bangkok, and the women in the second clip are no exception. But then poverty influences enlistment, just like in the U.S.

I went to a job fair last week, but I still haven't gotten any calls back. Ho, hum, story of my life, right?

    Interesting.

It'll give something more for the pathetic "moon landing was faked" people to scream about, though.

I'm not surprised by this, really, since they're both bargaining chips.

Today is Nikola Tesla's birthday. The fossil fuel industry is still covering up his work as we speak.

    Public Enemies
I saw it this morning and it ran slow in some parts, but I thought it was great.

Michael Mann definitely captured the early 1930's era. I liked how everyone was dressed to the nines back then, even when they didn't have much money.

There still were a few examples of Hollywood prettifying real-life subjects. The real Melvin Purvis looked nothing like Christian Bale and was short and kind of homely, although he really was a by-the-book and scrupulous guy (which made working for a corrupt creep like J. Edgar Hoover rather difficult for him). John Dillinger wasn't as handsome as Johnny Depp, either.

    I think I have a bladder infection.

I hope it clears out by this Saturday because I bought a ticket online for Public Enemies (it turns out I still had some $$$ left on a gift card).

Billy May is dead. And I didn't even know he lived in Tampa.

I can't say I'm tore up about it for obvious reasons, but my condolences go out to his family.

Two cute pictures I just found.

I like how they're holding hands. It's nice to see them forming close friendships in spite of the dehumanizing regime they live under (for anyone who doesn't know, they're North Korean Army girls).

Just got a Blue Screen of Death. I'm worried and angry about it since I've only had this laptop for a month.

The fact that I'm writing this right now means it hasn't died yet despite what happened, but I'm still freaking out.

I'm retiring the "Random YouTube music video of the week", for good this time. The videos tend to get deleted anyway.

Speaking of YouTube, it must be understood that it's driven by profit (even to the point of contradicting its own TOS) and the YouTube staff acts accordingly. This is why videos with copyrighted content are often deleted swiftly, but the racists, trolls, and pro-terrorist people get ignored since they get the most hits and visits, and the same goes for offensive comments. There are only crackdowns when something gets media coverage.
I'd wager it's also because the YouTube staff are simply apathetic, and I probably would be too if that were my job.
